Serving as a head counselor at Summer’s Best Two Weeks is an opportunity to lead a team of counselors in making a transformational impact in the lives of children. Head Counselors are responsible for modeling Christ-like character, thoroughly understanding all the details of the SB2W program, and interacting and communicating well with campers, counselors, and church staff. Head counselors are not assigned to specific groups of campers, but support the other counselors and keep the whole program running smoothly. Head counselors also have the opportunity to connect deeply with their fellow counselors through regular fellowship times and counselor Bible study and to receive mentoring and teaching from the SB2W leadership and other pastors in the Tidewater Presbytery to help you grow in your relationship with God and understanding of God’s particular calling for your life.

Tidewater SB2w 2024 head counselor details
Dates: June 3-August 2 (two weeks of prep/training + 7 weeks of camps)
Hours: Generally 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM, Mon-Fri, but some evening/overnight/weekends
Housing: Housing is provided with local host families for training and each camp location (or counselors may live at home if feasible)
Transportation: A driver’s license and/or car is a strong plus for a head counselor, and camp will reimburse gasoline costs during the summer, but it is not absolutely essential
Salary: Head Counselors are paid a salary of $400 per week. In addition, meals are provided during the camp day and with host families
Application Process: Our head counselor positions are filled for 2024, but we are still hiring senior counselors or you can let us know you’re interested for 2025!
