A growth community is a committed group of 4-6 households that meet together regularly to intentionally seek growth in faith and support one another in their walk with Jesus.

is this the same thing as a community group?

If you’ve been part of a “community group”, “life group”, “small group”, “cell group”, “discipleship group”, “mid-week Bible study”, or some other group like that, yes, a “Growth Community” is the rough equivalent of those things. Of course, different people have a wide range of different experiences with different kinds of groups, so it may or may not feel similar to what you have experienced before.

Why is it called a “Growth Community”?

Because it’s a community of people intentionally seeking to grow in their walk and relationship with Jesus!

When do they meet?

Most growth communities meet on weekday evenings in a home, but there is flexibility in the exact times and styles for each group. Groups are fundamentally organized relationally rather than logistically. Once the people of a growth community are established, they find the best time and place to meet.

what do they do?

While there is flexibility for each particular group, meetings generally follow the TEAMS (Truth, Equipping, Accountability, Mission, Supplication) framework to apply Biblical truth to different areas of their lives, using a variety of specific resources put together by Resurrection. This framework and mindset is from Life on Life Ministries at Perimeter Church in Atlanta, but not using their specific curriculum.

how do I get involved with a growth community?

If you’re newer to Resurrection or newer to the idea of small group meetings, the best place to start is by coming to Sunday Night Connections at the Brock house. As you get to know more people at Resurrection, we’ll get you connected to a particular growth community. If you can’t make it to Sunday Night Connections or are already ready to jump into a committed growth community, just let us know!
